The Benefits of Airbrush Tanning

By now, most people know that getting a tan by sunbathing or using a tanning bed can be potentially hazardous. Both methods expose the skin to harmful ultraviolet rays. There are UVA and UVB rays, both of which can harm the skin and even cause conditions like skin cancer. Even so, many people still desire a deep, dark tan. After all, most of us look healthier and more vibrant with a little color. To meet the demand for safe tans, airbrush tanning was developed.

Tanning by airbrush uses a sunless tanner solution that is sprayed all over the body. There are three basic types of airbrushing that can be done. The first is via tanning booth. Both Mystic Tan and Fantasy Tan are examples of professional spray tan booths. You simply step into the booth and get sprayed on both sides with an even mist of solution. The second method is to have the sunless tanner applied with an airbrush by a salon technician. The third method is to apply your very own airbrush tan with home equipment.

No matter which method you choose, it's important to do things right to get the best tan possible. First, always make sure you shower and exfoliate thoroughly before your tanning session. Exfoliating provides a smooth surface for the color and prevents unsightly streaks or uneven color. Rough, dry skin like that commonly found on knees and elbows will turn darker than the rest of the body, so exfoliate extra well in these areas. You may even want to moisturize extra rough spots before your tanning session.

Before heading to your spray tanning session, make sure you're dressed in comfortable, old clothes that you don't mind getting stained. The tanning solution dries quickly on the skin, but if you dress too quickly after your session your clothing may become a bit discolored in some places. When it comes to what to wear during your session, that's totally up to you. Some tanners go au naturel, while others choose to wear a bikini or one-piece bathing suit.

Airbrush tanning is truly the wave of the future when it comes to getting that beautiful tan look. Never again will you need to worry about damaging your skin. Not only that, but getting a tan this way is fast and easy. Once you try your first spray tanning session, you're likely to be so impressed that you'll never want to bronze your body any other way!
